COMMUNITY

Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.  – Romans 15:7

A Community where I can share openly without fearing judgement and where I am supported and encouraged by other moms who understand exactly what I am going through.

I spent years in heartbroken isolation with the weight of shame, guilt, anxiety, and fear bearing down on me to the point where I didn’t think I could take another day of it. It seemed like I was the only one with a child that was out of control and I didn’t feel safe sharing with anyone.  I began to have a deep longing to be with other moms who were suffering like I was, but I wasn’t sure where to start.

I turned to the Bible and began to study God’s word and it wasn’t long before I discovered verses like, Ephesians 4:25 that says, “Therefore, each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully”.  I realized that the beginning of healing was going to be in honestly and transparently talking about my situation with my child.  I read further and came across, 1 Thessalonians 5:11 where it says, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”  That verse along with Hebrews 10:25, “Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near”, were the scriptures that birthed the idea of starting a group for Hurting Moms.

From the very first group meeting of Hurting Moms, I knew that being part of a community of other Hurting Moms was the answer to my pain.  God has shown me that when we talk about our deepest hurts and struggles it takes the power out of it. The very thing that has controlled us for so long and had so much power over us becomes secondary as we learn to tap into the peace of God, the very God who created our children and loves them even more than we do.   It was in the safety of a group of other moms who understood, that I was able to surrender my child to Him.

Being part of the Hurting Moms community has given me the opportunity to be an encourager while also being encouraged by the other moms.  It is the very best gift I have ever received, and I am thankful every day that God has provided this wonderful opportunity to connect with other moms for hope and healing.
